On June 30, 1995, construction officially began on the Taihu Lake Tunnel, a groundbreaking engineering project aimed at improving transportation connectivity in the Wuxi region. On November 17, 2020, Wuxi inaugurated its newest metro line, the Loop Line. The Loop Line features state-of-the-art automated metro technology, offering residents a fast, reliable, and eco-friendly transportation option.

The city of Wuxi hosted the World Internet of Things Exposition in 2023, showcasing its leadership in IoT technologies.
