Raphael Warnock

Raphael Warnock announced his candidacy for the United States Senate in Georgia on January 30, 2020. He aimed to unite various communities under a common vision and prioritized healthcare, criminal justice reform, debt relief, and focused on serving the needy and oppressed.

During the November 3, 2020, general elections, Raphael Warnock participated in the race for the U.S. Senate in Georgia. As no candidate received a majority, a runoff was triggered between the top two candidates, including Warnock.

Raphael Warnock unveiled a comprehensive health care plan on December 14, 2020. This plan emphasized expanding Medicaid, lowering prescription drug costs, and ensuring that all Americans have access to affordable health care. It was a key platform in his electoral campaign.

Raphael Warnock won a highly contested Senate runoff election in Georgia held on January 5, 2021, with the result officially declared on January 6. Warnock's victory, alongside Jon Ossoff's win, gave the Democratic Party control of the U.S. Senate with a slim majority.

On January 20, 2021, Raphael Warnock was sworn in as a U.S. Senator representing Georgia. His swearing-in was particularly historic as he became the first African American to represent Georgia in the Senate, marking a significant milestone in the state's political history.

In February 2021, Raphael Warnock introduced the Emergency Relief for Farmers of Color Act, aiming to provide aid to Black, Indigenous, and Hispanic farmers who have suffered due to systemic discrimination. The act sought to address long-standing inequities in the agricultural sector.

Senator Raphael Warnock voted in favor of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, which was passed on March 6. This $1.9 trillion economic stimulus bill was critical for providing economic relief amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, including direct payments, unemployment aid, and vaccine distribution funding.

Warnock played a pivotal role in introducing a comprehensive voting rights bill on June 29, 2021. The legislation aimed at preserving and enhancing voting rights in the wake of numerous restrictions being proposed in several states across the country.

Senator Warnock was instrumental in passing the Inflation Reduction Act on August 16, 2022. The act aimed at reducing inflation by investing in domestic energy production, promoting clean energy solutions, and allocating funds to reduce carbon emissions.

On December 6, 2022, Raphael Warnock won the Georgia Senate runoff election against Herschel Walker. This victory secured his position as a U.S. Senator for a full six-year term, having previously won in a special election,
