Richie McCaw

Richard Hugh McCaw was born on December 31, 1980, in Oamaru, New Zealand. He grew up near Kurow in rural North Otago, and was raised on the family's farm. Richie showed an early interest in rugby, which was nurtured by his family, especially his uncle, who had played for Otago. Richie attended Otago Boys' High School and later Lincoln University, where he further developed his rugby skills.

Richie McCaw made his international debut for the New Zealand All Blacks on November 17, 2001, against Ireland at Lansdowne Road in Dublin. At just 20 years old, McCaw displayed exceptional talent and poise beyond his years, earning the man of the match award in a memorable performance that marked the beginning of a storied international career.

In May 2006, Richie McCaw was appointed as the captain of the All Blacks, taking over from Tana Umaga.
