Construction of New Texas Tech Medical School
On May 5, 2013, construction began on the new Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, expanding educational opportunities in medical and health professions. The facility was part of a broader effort to enhance medical education and services in the Texas Panhandle. The project aimed to address regional healthcare shortages and boost Amarillo's profile as a center for medical education. It also provided new opportunities for local high school graduates interested in pursuing careers in the healthcare field.
