San Antonio

On May 1, 1718, the city of San Antonio was founded by Spanish explorers. It was originally established as a Spanish mission and colonial outpost. The mission, San Antonio de Valero, was one of the most famous missions and later became known as the Alamo. The city developed around this mission and served as a significant location for settling the frontier in Texas for Spain.
