Ross Brawn

As part of his role with Formula 1, Ross Brawn facilitated the implementation of a series of new technical regulations and a budget cap starting in 2020. On November 23, 2016, Ross Brawn was appointed as Managing Director of Motorsports for Formula 1, under the new ownership of Liberty Media. On November 29, 2013, Ross Brawn announced he was stepping down from his role as team principal at Mercedes. Brawn left to pursue personal fishing interests.

In 2010, following the acquisition of Brawn GP by Mercedes, Ross Brawn continued as the team principal of Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team. In March 2009, Ross Brawn acquired the departing Honda Racing F1 Team, forming Brawn GP. Against all odds, the team won the season-opening Grand Prix in Australia. At the end of the 2006 season, Ross Brawn decided to take a sabbatical leave from Formula 1, stepping down from his role as Ferrari's technical director. After spending a year away from the sport, during which he focused on fishing and family time, Brawn returned to the Formula 1 scene revitalized and with new opportunities on the horizon.

Ross Brawn joined Ferrari in November 1996 as technical director. He played a crucial role in revitalizing the team and building a dominant force alongside team principal Jean Todt and lead driver Michael Schumacher. Brawn's strategic acumen helped Ferrari secure five consecutive Constructors' Championships and Michael Schumacher win five Drivers' Championships from 2000 to 2004.

In February 1991, Ross Brawn joined Benetton as technical director. Under his direction, the team achieved significant success, culminating in back-to-back World Championships for Michael Schumacher in 1994 and 1995. Brawn's innovative approach to car design and race strategy was instrumental in these victories.

Ross Brawn continued his rise through the ranks of Formula 1 when he joined the Arrows F1 team in 1987 as chief designer.
