Ron DeSantis

Ron DeSantis was born on September 14, 1978, in Jacksonville, Florida. He grew up in Dunedin, Florida, and attended Yale University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in history. DeSantis later earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School. His early life and education laid the foundation for his future career in politics and law.

Ron DeSantis was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Florida's 6th congressional district on November 6, 2012. He was sworn in on January 3, 2013, and served until 2018. During his time in Congress, DeSantis was a founding member of the Freedom Caucus, a group of conservative Republican members, and was involved in efforts to limit government spending and repeal the Affordable Care Act.
