He was nominated for the Academy Award (Oscar) for Actor in a Supporting Role. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.

The movie, ‘Titanic’, performed very well. The actor’s role in this movie led to what has been called “Leo-Mania”. This role led to DiCaprio earning a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor Motion Picture Drama. Interestingly, Leonardo originally declined the offer to play the character in Titanic. He was later encouraged by Cameron to take up the role.

This movie covers the true experience of Frank Abagnale Jr. Abagnale successfully raked in millions of dollars from fake checks as a fake Pan Am pilot, doctor, and legal prosecutor. Abagnale did not originally have confidence in DiCaprio’s ability to play him in the film, but he was eventually impressed by how well DiCaprio portrayed his life. Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for the Golden Glove Award for his role in this film.

Leonardo DiCaprio landed his first Golden Globe Award from another collaboration with Scorsese. ‘The Aviator’ was a huge success. The actor received incredible reviews for his performance. The Golden Globe Award that DiCaprio won was for Best Actor. ‘The Aviator’ also led to DiCaprio receiving another Academy Award nomination and a BAFTA nomination.
