Leonardo DiCaprio was born on November 11, 1974. The actor was born in Los Angeles, California. He is the only child of George DiCaprio and Irmelin DiCaprio. George DiCaprio is a former comic book artist.

Young Leonardo DiCaprio was featured in a number of television commercials and educational shows. It is said that he developed an interest in acting after seeing one of his cousins appear in a television commercial. The young actor landed a role in ‘Growing Pains’. He played Luck Brower.

The actor’s debut film role was ‘Critters 3’. This was a comedic sci-fi horror film. 

‘This Boy’s Life’ was DiCaprio’s first major film. He was selected by Robert De Niro out of 400 young actors. This great movie featured an incredible performance from Leonardo DiCaprio. The young actor actually grew a few inches while shooting ‘The Boy’s Life’. He had to slouch in some of the scenes to keep a consistent size beside DeNiro.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s supporting role in the film ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grapen’ led to the actor receiving two major nominations. He was nominated for the Academy Award (Oscar) for Actor in a Supporting Role. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.

‘Gangs of New York’ is the first in a slew of incredible collaborations between Scorsese and DiCaprio. The actor’s performance was well received by critics and fans; however, he was outshined by the performance of Daniel Day-Lewis.

This movie covers the true experience of Frank Abagnale Jr. Abagnale successfully raked in millions of dollars from fake checks as a fake Pan Am pilot, doctor, and legal prosecutor. Abagnale did not originally have confidence in DiCaprio’s ability to play him in the film, but he was eventually impressed by how well DiCaprio portrayed his life. Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for the Golden Glove Award for his role in this film. 

Leonardo DiCaprio landed his first Golden Globe Award from another collaboration with Scorsese. ‘The Aviator’ was a huge success. The actor received incredible reviews for his performance. The Golden Globe Award that DiCaprio won was for Best Actor. ‘The Aviator’ also led to DiCaprio receiving another Academy Award nomination and a BAFTA nomination. 

In this film, DiCaprio played the role of an undercover state cop who infiltrated an Irish gang. This film received overwhelming support upon its release. It became one of the highest-rated wide release films of the year in which it was released. The movie won the Best Picture Oscar.

Leonardo DiCaprio played the role of a brutal Mississippi plantation owner. ‘Django Unchained’ received positive feedback from fans and critics. This led to DiCaprio’s eighth nomination from the Golden Globes. 

Leonardo DiCaprio played ‘Jay Gatsby’ in the big-screen adaptation of the famous novel, ‘The Great Gatsby’. The movie and Leonardo DiCaprio’s role in it received rave reviews. DiCaprio was pleased to take up this role because he appreciated the life experience of Jay Gatsby.

‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ is another collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio. This is the fifth time they were working together on a film. As a result of DiCaprio’s performance, he won his second Golden Globe Award. 

After being nominated for six times, the actor finally won his first Oscar on February 28, 2015. 

DiCaprio’s performance in this film received incredible reviews. The actor played High Glass in the film. Leonardo has shared that this was his most difficult film. The film earned $533 million worldwide. DiCaprio won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and SAG and a Critic’s Choice Award for Best Actor as a result of this role.

In 2019, Leonardo DiCaprio narrated a documentary on global warming called ‘Ice on Fire’. The actor also came out of a four-year break from acting and played a role in Quentin Tarantino’s comedy-drama ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’.
