Abagnale did not originally have confidence in DiCaprio’s ability to play him in the film, but he was eventually impressed by how well DiCaprio portrayed his life. Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for the Golden Glove Award for his role in this film. 

‘Gangs of New York’ is the first in a slew of incredible collaborations between Scorsese and DiCaprio. The actor’s performance was well received by critics and fans; however, he was outshined by the performance of Daniel Day-Lewis.

The movie, ‘Titanic’, performed very well. The actor’s role in this movie led to what has been called “Leo-Mania”. This role led to DiCaprio earning a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor Motion Picture Drama. Interestingly, Leonardo originally declined the offer to play the character in Titanic. He was later encouraged by Cameron to take up the role.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s supporting role in the film ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grapen’ led to the actor receiving two major nominations. He was nominated for the Academy Award (Oscar) for Actor in a Supporting Role. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture. 

‘This Boy’s Life’ was DiCaprio’s first major film. He was selected by Robert De Niro out of 400 young actors. This great movie featured an incredible performance from Leonardo DiCaprio. The young actor actually grew a few inches while shooting ‘The Boy’s Life’. He had to slouch in some of the scenes to keep a consistent size beside DeNiro.

The actor’s debut film role was ‘Critters 3’. This was a comedic sci-fi horror film.
