Kyushu University

Kyushu University inaugurated the LIDAR Research Center in January 2021 to advance research in light detection and ranging (LIDAR) technology. Kyushu University founded the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (I²CNER) as part of its commitment to sustainable energy solutions. The institute focuses on the development of technologies for carbon-neutral energy production and storage. It collaborates with international researchers to address global energy challenges and aims to contribute to the achievement of global carbon neutrality.

In November 1947, following World War II, Kyushu Imperial University underwent a major reorganization and was renamed as Kyushu University. This change was part of a broader reform of educational institutions in Japan, transitioning imperial universities into national universities. The university's focus expanded to embrace more diverse academic disciplines and include more international collaboration.
