Heracles Almelo

Heracles Almelo was founded on May 3, 1903. The club originated in Almelo, a city in the eastern part of the Netherlands. It is one of the oldest football clubs in the country. Originally, the club was called "Heracles" and it was named after the Greek hero Heracles. The founders wanted to instill strength and courage in their players, akin to the traits of the hero. Thus began the long history of a club that would go on to play in various Dutch football leagues.

On November 27, 1985, Heracles Almelo was promoted to the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football. This marked a major milestone in the club's history. After years of competing in lower divisions, Heracles managed to secure a spot in the premier division, showcasing their development and commitment to becoming an elite football club in the Netherlands.
