Bossier City

Barksdale Field, now known as Barksdale Air Force Base, is a United States Air Force base in Bossier City, Louisiana. Established in 1933, it was one of the largest air bases in the world at that time, playing a crucial role in the United States military operations during World War II. Its construction brought significant economic development to the area and made it a central hub of air force operations in the region.

In the fall of 1950, heavy rains caused the Red River to flood much of Bossier City, Louisiana, as well as Shreveport and other surrounding areas. This disaster left thousands homeless and caused millions in damages.
