Opening of the Bogor Botanical Gardens to the Public
The Bogor Botanical Gardens, initially established by the Dutch colonial government in 1817, were officially opened to the public in 1993. This 87-hectare garden is one of the oldest and most significant botanical gardens in Southeast Asia. It houses over 15,000 species of trees and plants. The garden serves as a major center for scientific research and environmental education, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, who come to learn about plant diversity and conservation efforts.
