Alonzo Engwanda

Alonzo Engwanda was born on May 15, 2001, in Nairobi, Kenya. From a young age, Alonzo showed exceptional aptitude in mathematics and science. His parents were both educators, and they encouraged his curiosity and passion for learning. Throughout his childhood, Alonzo was involved in various academic and extracurricular activities, which shaped his early life and interests.

At the age of 16, Alonzo Engwanda won the gold medal at the International Mathematics Olympiad held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on September 12, 2017. This achievement marked him as a promising young mathematician on the global stage. Alonzo's innovative approach and ability to solve complex problems gained him recognition and opened doors to international academic opportunities.

Alonzo Engwanda published his first research paper titled 'On Prime Number Patterns' in the Journal of Computational Mathematics. The paper, released on July 18, 2018, explored new algorithms in identifying patterns among prime numbers, providing a fresh perspective in the field of number theory. Alonzo Engwanda was awarded a full scholarship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on November 22, 2019. During the summer of 2020, Alonzo Engwanda interned at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, starting on August 30. He participated in the Large Hadron Collider project, contributing to data analysis and theoretical development. On March 12, 2021, Alonzo Engwanda co-founded the non-profit organization 'Math for All', aimed at providing free mathematical education resources to underprivileged communities in Africa.
