Aguascalientes

The city of Aguascalientes was founded on October 22, 1575, by Juan de Montoro as a postal service support point on the Zacatecas road. The area was originally inhabited by the indigenous groups of the region, and it was officially established as a Spanish settlement due to its strategic location for transportation and communication routes during the colonial era.

In 1804, Aguascalientes was established as a separate territory within the colonial structure. This was a significant development as it marked the beginning of the region's administrative independence from other larger territories. The National Museum of Death was established on October 28, 1975, in Aguascalientes City. It is dedicated to exploring and presenting the history and cultural significance of death in Mexico.
