Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah is a Ghanaian Member of Parliament representing the Salaga South Constituency in the Savannah Region of Ghana.She is the first woman from the Salaga area elected as a member of parliament in the fourth republic.
Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, born in Northern Ghana in 1970, pursued diverse education across multiple countries, earning degrees in Management Studies, Communication Studies, Diplomacy, and International Trade, presently pursuing a PhD in Media and Communication at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
Before entering politics, Ibrahimah had a diverse career in community development, administration, and diplomacy. She served as the Deputy Director of the Information Services Department and worked on projects related to water supply, education, and sanitation in various regions of Ghana.
she held roles as a consultant for WHO/UNICEF, managed the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in Ghana, and represented the Discovery Channel Global Education Partnership. In the field of diplomacy, she served as Minister-Counsellor and Head of Information and Public Relations at the Ghana High Commission in London before entering politics.
Zuwera Ibrahimah won the National Democratic Congress primaries for Salaga South Constituency, securing her candidacy for the December 2020 Elections. She received 472 votes in the primary election, defeating other candidates. In the 2020 parliamentary elections, she made history as the first female member of parliament for the Savannah Region, winning with 49.5% of the vote against the incumbent member. She was sworn in as a Member of Parliament in the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic of Ghana on January 7, 2021, and serves on the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Appointments Committee of Parliament.
