Yaw Donkor (Nkomode)

Nkomode, born Yaw Donkor, hailed from Wassa Akropong in the Western Region of Ghana. He was a member of the Kristo Asafo Drama Group, sponsored by the Kristo Asafo Church, which was behind the Concert Party show.

Nkomode's comedic journey began on the stage comedy and acting platform alongside notable figures such as Bishop Bob Okala, Abenkwan, Original 32, Agya Koo, Ice Kenkey, and A1. His exceptional talent and ability to captivate audiences propelled him to prominence, earning him a special place in the hearts of many.

Concert Party, a television program that aired on Ghana Television (GTV) every Saturday night, became the breeding ground for Nkomode's comedic prowess. The show, which ran from the 1990s to the 2000s, featured a signature tune that had viewers eagerly awaiting its broadcast. Nkomode's comedic brilliance and impeccable timing made him a favorite among the show's massive and devoted audience.

During the peak of his comedy career on Concert Party, Nkomode left Ghana to explore opportunities abroad. This decision resulted in a prolonged absence from the Ghanaian comedy and entertainment scene. However, despite his physical distance, Nkomode's impact remained etched in the memories of his fans and fellow comedians.

Nkomode's talent was recognized and celebrated during his tenure on Concert Party. As a comedian, he emerged victorious in the Concert Party Champions of Champions competition for three consecutive years, from 1996 to 1998. These accolades solidified his reputation as an exceptional entertainer and reinforced his position as one of Ghana's most beloved comedians.

Nkomode's legacy extended beyond his work on Concert Party. He made notable contributions to Ghana's film industry, appearing in various movies upon his return to Ghana. Although his time in the entertainment industry was tragically cut short, Nkomode's impact on Ghanaian comedy and his ability to bring joy to people's lives will always be remembered.
