Yao Gomado was born on Thursday, October 20, 1966, in Dodo-Dompa, a town nestled in the Oti Region of Ghana.
Gomado passed his Common Entrance Examination in 1978. This accomplishment enabled him to achieve his Ordinary Level and Advanced Level qualifications. His educational journey continued with a series of milestones, including acquiring a Class Two Marine Electrical Engineer (Marine Electrical and Automation Engineering) certification in 1987.
Yao Gomado began his career at the Volta Lake Transport Company Limited in Akosombo, Ghana, where he served as an Assistant Electrical Engineer during his National Service period. Following this initial role, Gomado ventured abroad to Singapore, where he worked as a Junior Marine Electrical Engineer with Neptune Ship Management PTE Ltd. His career continued to evolve as he assumed the role of Marine Electrical Engineer with PSM Perkapalan SDN BHD in Malaysia. Gomado further extended his professional experience by working as a Marine Electrical Engineer for Paccship Management PTE in Singapore. Gomado's commitment to excellence in his field led him to serve as the Technical Director at Oceanwave Maritime & Engineering Consultancy Limited.
In the 2020 Ghanaian general elections, Gomado solidified his position as a political force to be reckoned with. Representing the National Democratic Congress, he secured a resounding victory with 19,317 votes, amounting to 58.69% of the total vote count. This triumph saw him becoming a member of the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.
In addition to his role as a parliamentarian, Gomado serves on two significant parliamentary committees—the Judiciary Committee and the Environment, Science, and Technology Committee.
