Joseph Van Vicker was born on August 1, 1977

Van Vicker, a well-known actor, was born in Accra, Ghana, to a Ghanaian-Liberian mother and a Dutch father. Sadly, his father passed away when he was only six years old. He attended Mfantsipim School, where he crossed paths with fellow actor Majid Michel, and later graduated from the African University College of Communications in 2021.

Van Vicker began his entertainment career in radio and television, hosting shows on Groove 106.3 FM and Vibe 91.9 FM, as well as working as a television personality for TV3 Ghana and Metro TV, before gaining recognition through his role as LeRoy King Jr., a Fine Arts student, in the Ghanaian television series "Sun City," which aired for 10 episodes and depicted university life.

Van Vicker's acting career took off with his debut film, "Divine Love," where he played a supporting character alongside fellow actors Jackie Appiah and Majid Michel, who had their debut lead roles in the same film. Vicker has since been frequently cast as the male romantic lead, often appearing alongside actresses Jackie Appiah and Nadia Buari, and has drawn comparisons to Ghanaian actor Majid Michel and Nigerian actor Ramsey Nouah.

Van Vicker has made a notable presence in Nollywood, starring in multiple films alongside renowned actors such as Tonto Dikeh, Mercy Johnson, Stephanie Okereke, Chika Ike, and Jim Iyke. Some of his Nollywood movie credits include "My Soul Mate," "Heart of Fire," "Popular King," "Gambling with Marriage," "Harvest of Love," "Stolen Will," "The Joy of a Prince," "Discovered," "The Kingdom," and "Against the Law."

Van Vicker, through his production company Sky + Orange Productions, has directed, produced, and acted in five films since 2008. His movie "Joni Waka" brought him significant recognition in 2012, earning him the NAFCA Best Actor and Director Awards. He has also received numerous nominations and awards from various ceremonies, including the Ghana Movie Awards, ACRAG awards, and the Nollywood Academy Films Critics' Awards, with notable wins such as Best African Caribbean Actor, Best Actor African American, and Best International Actor at the Papyrus Magazine Screen Actors Awards in 2013.
