Trent Kelly

Trent Kelly was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Mississippi's 1st congressional district in a special election held on June 2, 2015. The special election was held to fill the vacancy left by the death of Congressman Alan Nunnelee. Kelly, a member of the Republican Party and a district attorney for Lee County, won the election with 70% of the vote, defeating his opponent Walter Zinn, a Democrat from Oxford, Mississippi. His victory helped maintain Republican control of the seat in a strongly Republican district.

On July 7, 2015, Trent Kelly was officially sworn in as a member of the United States House of Representatives.
