Tim Walz

Tim Walz was born on April 6, 1964, in West Point, Nebraska. He moved to Minnesota after college and became a geography teacher at Mankato West High School.

Tim Walz was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in Minnesota's 1st congressional district, defeating six-term Republican incumbent Gil Gutknecht. He served in the House until 2019.

Tim Walz co-authored the Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2013, which was signed into law on September 25, 2013. The law provided a cost-of-living increase for veterans' benefits.

Tim Walz was elected the 41st governor of Minnesota on November 6, 2018. He ran as a Democrat and won the election with a majority of the vote, succeeding Mark Dayton.
