Lamptey was born in Hillingdon, Greater London, joined the Chelsea academy at the age of eight and made his first-team debut in December 2019 before signing for Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2020, where he has since made significant contributions including goals and assists, although he suffered a season-ending hamstring injury in March 2021 and made his return to the squad in September 2021.
