Sulley Muntari

Suleyman Ali "Sulley" Muntari was born on August 27, 1984, in Konongo, Ghana.

Sulley Muntari began his football career in Ghana with Liberty Professionals before joining Udinese, where he played over 150 matches and scored 9 goals. He later moved to Portsmouth, winning the FA Cup, and then joined Inter Milan, contributing to their Champions League and Serie A successes, while earning over 80 caps for the Ghana national team and participating in multiple Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cups.

Sulley Muntari showcased his talents in youth tournaments and joined Italian club Udinese after impressing during a trial with Manchester United. He later played for Portsmouth, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Ittihad FC.

Sulley Muntari had an international career representing Ghana in both youth and senior levels. He played in the 2001 Meridian Cup and the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship. In the senior team, he made his debut in 2002 and became a regular player. He participated in the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the 2008 African Cup of Nations, where he scored important goals. Muntari had some disciplinary issues, including being sent home from the Olympic side in 2004 and being suspended during the 2010 African Cup of Nations. Despite these incidents, he was selected for the 2010 World Cup, where he scored a goal in the quarter-final against Uruguay. In the 2014 World Cup, he was sent home and suspended for disciplinary reasons.

Sulley Muntari's younger brother, Sulley Muniru, plays in the Russian Liga I, and Muntari himself is married to Menaye Donkor, a Ghanaian businesswoman, with whom he has two children.

Sulley Muntari, initially a left-back, transformed into a powerful and hard-working midfielder known for his physical strength, combative style, and notable improvements in technical skills, possessing a good left foot, powerful shot, solid passing ability, and tactical intelligence; although primarily deployed as a defensive or central midfielder, he can also play as a left winger or attacking midfielder, but has faced criticism for his aggressive playing style and tendency to accumulate cards.
