Born on 5th March 1988 in Ashaiman, Greater Accra, Ghana, Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy showed a passion for music from an early age.
During Stonebwoy's school days, he discovered his talents as a lyricist and scriptwriter, participating in drama and writing songs. He attended Methodist Day Secondary School and later pursued a degree in Marketing at the University of Professional Studies.
Stonebwoy's journey to stardom began in his high school days when he participated in a radio rap battle program. He gained popularity through his radio hits, "Makuma" and "Empress," which attracted a devoted fan base. Joining Samini's record label, "Samini Music," he released his first hit singles, "Climax" and "Ghetto Love." In 2012, he launched his debut album, "Grade 1," gaining widespread recognition across Ghana.
In 2014, Stonebwoy released his second album, "Necessary Evil," which earned him three Ghana Music Awards. His 2017 album, "Epistles of Mama," dedicated to his late mother, featured collaborations with renowned artists like Sean Paul and King Promise. The album peaked at number thirteen on the Billboard chart's top 200 albums worldwide.
Stonebwoy's talent and impact on the music scene have not gone unnoticed. In 2015, he won the Best International Act: Africa at the BET Awards and the Artist of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards. He has received several other accolades, including the 2016 International Reggae and World Music Awards for Most Promising Act.
In 2019, Stonebwoy was involved in a public altercation with fellow musician Shatta Wale during the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Following their arrest, both artists made peace and reconciled after the incident.
Aside from his musical achievements, Stonebwoy is actively involved in philanthropy and advocacy. He established the 'Livingstone Foundation' and sponsored students at his alma mater, the Tema Methodist Day Senior High School. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he donated sanitizers and other items to frontline workers and the police department in Ashaiman.
Stonebwoy's influence extends beyond music, as he has been named brand ambassador for various companies, including 'Big Boss' energy drink and Tecno Mobile. He has embarked on successful world tours, thrilling audiences in Europe, Australia, and North America.
