Early life and education

He is a native of Kronum Afrancho in Ghana's Ashanti Region.He graduated from Kumasi's Opoku Ware School.He graduated with a Master of Science in Strategic Finance Management in 2007 from the University of Derby in the United Kingdom.The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in Ghana, also awarded him a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Additionally, he holds an MIT Certificate in Entrepreneurship. Additionally, he has a KNUST PhD in Actuarial Science.

He founded his own business, GreenTech Solutions, after realizing a chance to provide specialized services in the area of renewable energy. Stephen's company quickly developed, and he soon began offering his services in more African nations.

Amoah formerly held the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Deputy National Coordinator for Kencity and the National Insurance Authority (NHIA).President Akufo-Addo nominated him to serve as the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre's (MASLOC) chief executive officer. He oversees Zintex Portfolio Services Limited as CEO.He works as a consultant in finance and investments.

Stephen significantly contributed to the development of the nation's energy industry by bringing his vast knowledge and expertise to the work.

Prior to the 2020 elections, Amoah ran in the NPP primaries.In June 2020, he defeated incumbent lawmaker Kennedy Kwasi Kankam, who had ousted Richard Winfred Anane in the NPP primary elections of 2016. As a result, he won the Nhyiaeso Constituency primary.
