A Distinguished Educationist, Writer, Economist, and Motivational Speaker
Stephen Adei was born on 14 December 1948 in Hwiremoase, Ghana, to Kwaku Adei and Abena Pomaa (aka Bedito). He received his primary education at the Hwiremoase Methodist Primary School, followed by studies at a nearby United Middle School in Brofuyedru. In 1964, he obtained a four-year Teacher's Certificate from the Sefwi Wiawso Training College.
Driven by his passion for knowledge, Adei pursued further studies privately and acquired the London University Ordinary and Advanced Level General Certificates in Education, as well as high school equivalent qualifications, within three and a half years. In October 1968, he enrolled at the University of Ghana, where he excelled in Economics, Sociology, and Geography, earning honors in all three subjects during his first year. Subsequently, he pursued a BSc Honours program in Economics. Adei later obtained a Master's degree in Development Economics from the University of Strathclyde, and a PhD in International Economics from the University of Sydney.
Adei served as the Director-General and Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), a prestigious educational institution. During his tenure, he implemented transformative reforms, fostering excellence in management and public administration education.
Beyond his administrative roles, Stephen Adei is also an accomplished writer. He has authored numerous articles, essays, and books on various subjects, including education, leadership, economics, and national development. His writings serve as valuable resources for individuals seeking inspiration, knowledge, and guidance in these areas.

Presently, Adei serves as the chairperson of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) under the Nana Akufo-Addo government. In this role, he plays a crucial part in shaping Ghana's long-term development strategies and policies.
