Sista Afia

Francisca Gawugah Duncan Williams, better known by her stage name Sista Afia was born on January 7, 1993. She is also recognized as the niece of the renowned Ghanaian Bishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams.

Sista Afia attended the Reverend John Teye Memorial Institute, Afia Kobi Ampem Girls, and Angel Educational Complex for her education. However, her pursuit of a nursing career led her to relocate to the United Kingdom, where she received professional training in the field. Despite her nursing qualifications, Sista Afia's true passion remained rooted in music, prompting her return to Ghana in 2015 to embark on her musical journey.

During her initial years in the music industry, Sista Afia had the privilege of being mentored by renowned Ghanaian singer Bisa Kdei. This guidance proved invaluable as she honed her skills and developed her unique sound. Her breakthrough came with the release of her single "Jeje," featuring dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and Afezi Perry. The track garnered widespread acclaim, catapulting Sista Afia into the spotlight and earning her recognition within the Ghanaian music industry.

Sista Afia has already accumulated an impressive list of accolades. Notable among these is the 3 Music Award 2019 for Female Woman of the Year, which recognizes her significant contributions to the music industry. She also received the 3 Music Award 2018 for Female Act of the Year, further solidifying her status as a rising star.
