Amon Nikoi, born Seth Amon Nikoi was a Ghanaian economist and diplomat
Born on January 19, 1930, in Accra, Nikoi's parents were Gottfried Ashaley Nikoi, a civil servant, and Agnes Betty Oboshie Quao, a teacher and textile trader.
Amon Nikoi received his education at Roman Catholic Jubilee School and Achimota College, graduating with an Economics degree and later pursuing a Master's and Doctorate at Harvard University.
He served as Ghana's economic and political affairs secretary-attaché at the Embassy and Permanent Representative to the UN.
In 1969, he became the first Director of Budget at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning
In 1973, the Ghanaian government appointed him governor and chairman of the Bank of Ghana but forced him to retire in 1977.
