Rex Omar,real name Rex Owusu Marfo is a Ghanaian highlife artist
He first gained notoriety in 1989 with the release of the album Aware Pa, which also featured the song Wodofo Ne Hwan.
Together with fellow Highlife musicians Nat Brew and Akosua Agyapong, he founded the Highlife Supergroup Nakorex in 1992. The name of the group is an acronym created from the first letters of each member's names.He then pursued a career as a soloist. Together with Sony Achiba, he performed
Omar was a nominee for a Kora award in 2004 and for Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards in 2005.
As the leader of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), he successfully convinced President John Agyekum Kufuor to withhold approval of the new Copyright Bill in order to increase rights for Ghanaian musicians.
Rex Omar joins the NDC Party
He successfully sued Joy Industries in January 2020 for violating his copyright by utilizing a portion of his song Dada Di Da to promote Joy Dadi Bitters without his permission.
