The moniker "Iya Rainbow" originated from her association with the theater group called "Osumare," founded by the legendary Sir Hubert Ogunde. The name "Osumare" means "rainbow" in British English, and it became the inspiration for her stage name. Over the years, Iya Rainbow's stage name has become more popular than her given name, Idowu Philips, among her fans and Nollywood enthusiasts.
