Kwakye-Ackah was born in Manso-Amenfi on June 15, 1957.
Kwakye-Ackah holds an MBA in Marine Engineering from the prestigious Leicester University, United Kingdom, and a First-Class Marine Engineering Certificate from the South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Studies in Cardiff, Wales. In addition, he holds a Second Marine Engineering Certificate from South Tyneside College, United Kingdom. He also has experience as an Engineer trainee at the Regional Maritime University.
From 2007 to 2010, Kwakye-Ackah worked as a Chief Engineer at Tidewater Marine in the United States. Another international assignment in his career includes his role as a Chief Engineer at Ocean Tankers Pte Ltd. in Singapore.
His tenure as a District Chief Executive (D.C.E) from 2012 to 2016 showcases his commitment to local governance and rural development.
In the 2016 election, Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah of the NDC secured victory with 17,801 votes (50.48%), defeating Patrick Hockson Ampongteng of the NPP, who received 17,256 votes (48.93%), while Abrokwa Isaac of the CPP garnered 207 votes (0.59%).
Kwakye-Ackah was part of the Public Accounts Committee and Education Committee.
