Peter Sauber was born on October 13, 1943, in Zurich, Switzerland. He is well known as the founder and former team principal of the Sauber Formula One team. Peter Sauber founded the PP Sauber AG racing team in 1970, marking the beginning of his long and storied career in motorsport. Initially, the team focused on hill climb races before venturing into sports car racing. This was the foundation upon which Sauber built its legacy, eventually leading to its entry into the more prestigious and competitive Formula One arena.

In 1989, the Sauber-Mercedes partnership achieved significant success by winning the World Sportscar Championship.
