The 2020 Ghanaian general election proved to be a crucial moment in Banor's political career. He faced competition from Ebenezer Kwaku Addo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Kofi Annan of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM). Banor secured a remarkable victory by polling 18,505 votes, representing 52.62% of the total valid votes cast. His opponents, Addo and Annan, received 16,546 votes (47.05%) and 116 votes (0.33%), respectively.
