Patricia Appiagyei

Patricia Appiagyei, was born on November 28, 1956, in Kumasi, Ghana.

Her educational journey began at St. Louis Senior Secondary School in Kumasi. After completing her secondary education, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a focus on Economics and Law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 1980. Her commitment to academic excellence continued as she earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Economics in 1988.

Appiagyei's professional career is marked by her work at City Investments Company Limited, where she served as the Executive Director of Marketing from 1995 to 2010. In addition to her corporate career, Patricia Appiagyei served as the Mayor of Kumasi, a position that further established her as a respected figure in Ghana's politics. 

Patricia Appiagyei's entry into politics was marked by her appointment as Deputy Minister for the Ashanti region from 2001 to 2005. Her remarkable work in this role led to her subsequent appointment as Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister in 2005. From 2005 to 2009, she assumed the role of Municipal Chief Executive for Kumasi, where she played a crucial role in the city's administration.

Patricia Appiagyei is the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Asokwa Constituency. She secured this position after winning the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary election and subsequently emerging victorious in the 2016 Ghanaian general elections. Her victory in the 2020 general election reaffirmed her constituents' trust in her representation.

In 2017, Patricia Appiagyei was appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo and approved by parliament to serve as the Deputy Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation. 

Patricia Appiagyei is a member of the Lands and Forestry Committee, where her expertise in economics and development economics is invaluable. Furthermore, she serves on the Appointments Committee, which plays a pivotal role in the vetting and approval of key government appointments.
