Otmar Szafnauer

Otmar Szafnauer was born on August 13, 1964, in Semlac, Romania. He later moved to the United States where he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering at Tri-State University in Indiana, followed by a Master’s degree in business and finance from the University of Detroit. Szafnauer is widely recognized for his leadership roles within Formula 1 motor racing teams, significantly shaping team strategies and operations.

In 1998, Otmar Szafnauer joined the Honda Formula 1 team as part of their management, marking his entry into the F1 world. His management skills and engineering background helped him secure a significant role, which paved the way for his future leadership positions in other prominent Formula 1 teams.
