Early life and education


Djaba was born to Henry Kojo Djaba and Rosalind Sheita Bawa at Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana.She is the second of twenty-one siblings.

Djaba attended Tamale Secondary School (now Tamale Senior High School). She holds a diploma in communications and marketing from an institution in the United Kingdom. She has also had training as a computer systems analyst at a college in the United Kingdom.

Political life

Djaba ran for the Bole Bamboi seat on the NPP ticket in 2008 but lost to former President John Dramani Mahama. She subsequently took up the role of Women's Organizer for the NPP.She was named the minister of gender, children, and social protection. She was selected to serve as Ghana's ambassador to Italy in August 2018 but turned down the position.

Otiko Afisa Djaba was appointed Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection in 2017. Due to the minority ministers' boycott of the vote, this appointment was met with several obstacles. According to Section 7 of the Ghana National Service Scheme Act 426, they claimed that she was unqualified for the position since she had not completed her National Service.
