Okechukwu Ukeje

Okechukwu Ukeje, the second child of Mr. and Mrs. Ukeje, was born on July 15, 1981, in Lagos State, Nigeria. Hailing from Umuahia in Abia State, he spent his formative years in Lagos. He completed his secondary education at the Federal Government College Ijanikin, Lagos, before enrolling at the University of Lagos, Yaba, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts.

OC Ukeje's passion for acting surfaced during his first year at the University of Lagos when he landed a lead role in a stage play. Initially aspiring to be a musician, fate led him towards acting. He spent his first four years in the industry primarily involved in stage plays before venturing into television and film.

In 2007, Ukeje appeared in his first professional screen appearance in the movie "White Waters" directed by Izu Ojukwu, alongside renowned actresses Joke Silva and Rita Dominic. The film marked the beginning of his successful acting career. He received the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for Most Promising Actor in 2008 and the City People's Award for Best New Act in 2010.

Over the years, Ukeje has worked on an array of critically acclaimed films, including "Two Brides and a Baby," "Hoodrush," "Alan Poza," "Confusion Na Wa," and "Half of a Yellow Sun." His versatility and captivating performances have garnered him widespread recognition and nominations at prestigious award ceremonies.

In addition to his film roles, Ukeje has also made notable appearances on television. He was a member of the cast of the TV series "Wetin Dey" (2007), produced by the BBC World Service Trust, which was presented at the International Emmy World Television Festival. He also featured in NdaniTV's series "Gidi Up" alongside other talented actors and actresses.

Although primarily recognized as an actor, OC Ukeje has also pursued his passion for music. He collaborated with Nigerian musicians and producers, and his music career includes notable songs like "Gospel According 2 Rap" and "Is It Your Love." In 2017, he released the single "Potato Potahto," featuring Vector, which further showcased his artistic range.

OC Ukeje's exceptional talent and dedication to his craft have earned him numerous awards and nominations. Some of his notable accolades include Africa Movie Academy Awards, Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, Nollywood Movies Awards, Best of Nollywood Awards, Nigeria Entertainment Awards, and Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards. His notable awards include the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards for Most Promising Actor in "White Waters" and the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award for Best Actor in a Drama in "Two Brides and a Baby."

Ukeje married Senami Ibukunoluwa Togonu-Bickersteth on November 8, 2014. Despite being separated due to circumstances beyond their control, Ukeje has expressed resilience and understanding, highlighting the challenges of maintaining a relationship while pursuing a career in the entertainment industry.
