Early Life and Education

Monalisa Chinda was born on September 13, 1974 in Port Harcourt to an Ikwere father and an Igbo mother. As the firstborn among two sons and four daughters, she displayed a passion for the arts from a young age. She attended the Army Children's School GRA for Primary education before proceeding to Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girls' School, Elelenwo, both located in Port Harcourt. Monalisa further pursued her passion for acting by obtaining a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Port Harcourt.

Professional Career

Monalisa Chinda's career in the entertainment industry took off in 1996 with her first major movie, "Pregnant Virgin." She continued to hone her acting skills through stage productions such as "Our Husband has gone mad again" by Ola Rorime and "The fight to stop female circumcision" by Amatu Braid. After graduating in 2000, she starred in "Above the Law" and has since appeared in numerous other films.


In 2007, Monalisa's road to stardom accelerated as she joined the cast of the television soap opera, "Heaven's Gate." In 2011, she showcased her talent as an Executive Producer in the Royal Arts Academy movie, "Kiss & Tell," which she co-produced with Emem Isong and was directed by Desmond Elliot. Notably, Monalisa became one of the first Nollywood actors to grace the cover of Hollywood Weekly Magazine in 2012.

Media Ventures and Philanthropy

In November 2014, Monalisa expanded her repertoire beyond acting and embarked on her talk show titled "You & I with Monalisa." The show, which airs on several Nigerian media channels, including A.I.T, T.V.C, and Channel Television, aims to address social situations, analyze them, and offer solutions using the medium of drama.

Apart from her on-screen endeavors, Monalisa Chinda actively engages in philanthropic work. She serves as a consultant with the Royal Arts Academy, a renowned media school dedicated to nurturing new talents in acting, directing, and screenwriting.
