Arriving at Danish club Nordsjælland in January 2018 from the Ghanaian Right to Dream Academy at the age of 10 alongside teammates Ibrahim Sadiq and Gideon Mensah, Kudus made his official debut for Nordsjælland as a striker just three days after turning 18, playing the entire first half before being substituted, and becoming the ninth youngest player to debut in the club's history.

Ajax announced during pre-season on 25 July 2021 that Kudus had suffered an ankle injury, but he made a triumphant return on 21 September, scoring a goal in a 5-0 victory over Fortuna Sittard; however, he faced another injury setback while playing for Ghana in November 2021, leading to a three-month absence, and upon his return, he played limited minutes but showcased his abilities by scoring four goals in four matches for Jong Ajax in the Eerste Divisie, and eventually made appearances in 11 out of 13 league matches for the senior team as Ajax secured the 2021-22 Eredivisie title, although they lost the KNVB Cup final 2-1 to PSV.
