Arriving at Danish club Nordsjælland in January 2018 from the Ghanaian Right to Dream Academy at the age of 10 alongside teammates Ibrahim Sadiq and Gideon Mensah, Kudus made his official debut for Nordsjælland as a striker just three days after turning 18, playing the entire first half before being substituted, and becoming the ninth youngest player to debut in the club's history.

Since 2019, Mohammed Kudus has been a key member of the Ghana national team, scoring multiple goals; however, he suffered a significant rib injury in November 2021, causing him to miss nearly three months of action, including the delayed 2021 African Cup of Nations, but he made a successful return to the squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification playoff against Nigeria, contributing to Ghana's qualification, and his standout performance came in the World Cup match against South Korea, where he scored two goals in a 3-2 victory.

On 16 July 2020, Mohammed Kudus joined Eredivisie club Ajax on a five-year contract for €9 million, making his debut on 20 September and impressing with one goal and three assists in his first three matches before an unfortunate meniscus injury during his Champions League debut; however, he returned from injury in January 2021, gradually regaining his form and earning a starting spot, ultimately playing a significant role in Ajax's league triumph and winning his first career trophy, the 2020-21 KNVB Cup, with four goals and three assists in 22 appearances across all competitions.

Ajax announced during pre-season on 25 July 2021 that Kudus had suffered an ankle injury, but he made a triumphant return on 21 September, scoring a goal in a 5-0 victory over Fortuna Sittard; however, he faced another injury setback while playing for Ghana in November 2021, leading to a three-month absence, and upon his return, he played limited minutes but showcased his abilities by scoring four goals in four matches for Jong Ajax in the Eerste Divisie, and eventually made appearances in 11 out of 13 league matches for the senior team as Ajax secured the 2021-22 Eredivisie title, although they lost the KNVB Cup final 2-1 to PSV.
