He was the Minister of Information and Media Relations and the Minister of Youth and Sports under the John Dramani Mahama administration. Early life and education
He received his education in Ghana, Nigeria, and the United States, attending Barewa College in Nigeria and obtaining a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Ghana, Legon, as well as a Master of Law degree from Harvard Law School; he served as the executive director of the Legal Resource Centre in Accra, and his older brother, Ayariga Hassan, was a presidential candidate for the People's National Convention in Ghana's 2012 General Elections.

Ayariga works as a lawyer and initially began his professional journey as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, specializing in natural resources law and international law; additionally, he played a key role in co-founding and serving as the executive director of the Legal Resources Centre, an organization dedicated to advancing human rights, community development, and social justice.

Ayariga has had a diverse political career, serving as a member of Ghana's parliament for the Bawku Central constituency and winning seats in multiple elections, as well as holding positions such as Presidential Spokesman, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Deputy Minister of Education, and Minister for Information; however, he has also been involved in controversies, including accusations of bribery and facing a court trial in 2019.

Ayariga is in a marital union, adheres to the Muslim faith, and his father, Frank Abdulai Ayariga, previously held a seat in the Bawku Constituency's parliament during the administration of Hilla Limann in the third republic.
