Clara Amoateng Benson was born on August 19, 2000, in Kumasi, Ghana.

In 2017, Maame Serwaa completed her secondary education at Serwaa Nyarko Girls' Senior High School. Recognizing her potential, she was awarded a four-year degree scholarship to pursue higher education at Knutsford University College in East Legon, Accra.

In April 2018, Maame Serwaa gained international recognition when she was featured in BBC Africa's documentary on the thriving Ghanaian movie industry. It was finally aired on 19th January, 2019.
