Forson's early education took her to the United States, where she attended Wilmore Elementary School in Kentucky. Upon returning to Ghana at the age of nine, Forson continued her education at Akosombo International School for primary and junior high school. She later attended St. Louis Secondary High School in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, before graduating with a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Information Studies from the University of Ghana, Legon.

In 2005, Lydia Forson's acting career took off when she made cameo appearances in the popular TV series "Hotel St. James." Her breakthrough came in 2008 when she starred in Shirley Frimpong Manso's critically acclaimed movie "Scorned," portraying the character of Dea Thompson. This role earned her a nomination for the Best Upcoming Female Actress at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in 2009. Forson's talent and versatility further shone through in movies such as "The Perfect Picture," "A Sting in a Tale," "Keteke," and "Sidechic Gang," among others.

Most recently, in 2022, she was honored as the Female Actor of the Year at the Entertainment Achievement Awards.
