On May 17, 2019, Korea University launched the Future Research Institute, a new initiative aimed at addressing challenges of the future through interdisciplinary research. The institute collaborates with various faculties and external partners to explore solutions for global issues, such as sustainability and technological innovation. It seeks to lead in forward-thinking research, advancing Korea University's role in addressing complex global challenges.

In September 2011, Korea University joined the University Athletic Association of Korea (UAAK), promoting sportsmanship and athletic competition among top universities in Korea. This membership enhanced Korea University's athletic programs and encouraged student participation in various sports, fostering a balance between academics and athletics. It also strengthened its rivalry with Yonsei University, notably reflected in the annual Korea-Yonsei sports festival.

In 2009, Korea University established its Law School, joining several other prestigious institutions in reforming legal education in South Korea. The Law School aims to provide a rigorous legal education that combines theoretical perspectives with practical skills. It reflects Korea University's dedication to producing highly qualified legal professionals who can contribute to justice and societal progress both locally and internationally.

In 2005, Korea University celebrated its 100th anniversary, marking a century of educational excellence and contribution to Korean society. The celebrations included various activities and events that highlighted the university's history and achievements. This milestone was seen as an opportunity to reflect on the past and set goals for the future, strengthening Korea University's commitment to being a leading global institution.

The Korea University Business School was established in 1995 as part of a strategic initiative to provide top-tier business education. It offers undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs designed to cultivate future business leaders. The Business School is known for its strong focus on entrepreneurship, global business strategies, and innovation management, and is consistently ranked among the top business schools in Asia.

The Korea University Medical Center was inaugurated in March 1984, providing advanced medical services and fostering research and education in the field of medicine. This addition expanded Korea University's influence beyond traditional academia, integrating healthcare with academic research. The Medical Center has since become a leading institution in South Korea for medical treatment and research, contributing to public health and medical innovations globally.

On October 2, 1970, Korea University expanded its facilities by establishing the Anam Campus. This development marked a significant growth phase for the university, allowing it to accommodate more students and diversify its academic programs. The Anam Campus is now the main campus of Korea University, housing many important faculties and institutions, and it is a central hub for student life and activities.

The first Korea-Yonsei University games were held on November 22, 1965. The event marked the beginning of one of the most famous university rivalries in South Korea. These annual games feature various sports competitions and foster a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship between Korea University and Yonsei University, further encouraging student engagement and athletic achievement. The event has become a celebrated tradition showcasing the vibrant university sports culture in Korea.

In 1946, following Korea's liberation from Japanese occupation, Bosung College was renamed Korea University as part of the effort to restore national pride and expand educational opportunities. The university undertook significant educational reforms, and it started emphasizing the importance of academic autonomy and independence from external influences. Korea University became a symbol of the nation's progress and independence.

Korea University, originally named Bosung College, was established on May 5, 1905, by Lee Yong-Ik, Treasurer of the Royal Household in the Joseon Dynasty. The university was founded with a mission to educate young leaders who would contribute to the modernization of Korea. Initially, it offered a wide range of subjects and focused on liberal arts education. Bosung College played a pivotal role in Korea's educational development in the early 20th century.
