Kola Oyewo is a Nigerian veteran actor, dramatist, and scholar.
He was born on 27 March 27, 1946, at Oba Ile, a town in Osun State, South West Nigeria.
When he joined the "Oyin Adejobi theater group" in 1964, he started acting professionally. His first role was Adejare in Oyin Adejobi's autobiography, Orogun Adedigba. After working with Oyin Adejobi for nine years, he joined the University of Ife theater, where he collaborated with the late Chief Ola Rotimi, a distinguished dramatist and scholar. Kola Oyewo was well-known for his performance as "Odewale" in Ola Rotimi's drama, The Gods Are Not To Blame.
He studied at Obafemi Awolowo University, earning certificates in dramatic arts and Yoruba oral literature before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Theatre Art in 1995 from the same institution. He continued on to the University of Ibadan, where he earned a Ph.D. and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in theater.
Oyewo began working at Obafemi Awolowo University in 1996. He advanced to the position of senior lecturer before leaving in September 2011.After leaving Obafemi Awolowo University, he began working at Redeemer's University, where he is now the head of the dramatic arts division.He is currently employed as a performing arts lecturer at Elizade University in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State.
