Ken Erics was born in Kano State, Northwest Nigeria on 28 February 1985 and is the sixth of seven children of Eric Chukwuemeka Nwenweh and Grace Ifeyinwa Nwenweh both of Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria

Early life and education

Erics, who is of Igbo descent, received his primary education at Binta Mustapha Science Nursery and Primary School in Kano and his secondary education at Dennis Memorial Grammar School in Onitsha, Anambra State; his passion for the arts led him to pursue a degree in Theatre Arts at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where he later obtained a master's degree in Theatre and Film studies.

Career

Erics, starting with a minor role in the movie 'Holy Prostitute' during his first year in university, gradually gained recognition through cameo roles until his breakthrough portrayal of "Ugo" in 'The Illiterate' in 2012, which opened up more opportunities for him in the Nigerian film industry; additionally, he has published a notable work called 'Cell 2' used in Nigerian tertiary institutions, participated in music production, and acted alongside renowned stars like Ngozi Ezeonu, Yul Edochie, Desmond Elliot, Chiwetalu Agu, Regina Daniels, among others.

Awards and recognition

Erics achieved recognition in the film industry by winning the Best Supporting Actor award at the City People Entertainment Award in 2014, followed by the Best Lead Actor award at the Afrifimo Awards in the United States, and later the Best Lead Actor award at the City People Entertainment Award in 2015; furthermore, he received the City People Entertainment Awards 2017 for Best Actor of the Year and was nominated for the Golden Movie Awards in 2018 for Best Supporting Actor.
