On September 14, 2018, the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Cultural Centre was officially opened. This centre was developed to celebrate and preserve the rich history and traditions of the Secwépemc people, whose land Kamloops is situated on. The cultural centre serves as a community hub for education, cultural events, and traditional practices. It features exhibits on Secwépemc history, language, and art, providing a space for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to learn and engage with the culture. The opening of the centre was a pivotal moment in promoting cultural understanding and reconciliation within the region.
