John-Peter Amewu is a Ghanaian politician and current Minister for Railways Development in Ghana and Member of Parliament (MP) for Hohoe Constituency in the Parliament of Ghana.
John-Peter Amewu studied at Hohoe E. P. Senior High School, St. He graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, earned an MBA in finance, and later earned master's and postgraduate degrees in petroleum law and policy.
John-Peter Amewu, an NPP member, served as the municipal chief executive for Hohoe Municipal Assembly from 2005 to 2009. He is now Member of Parliament representing the Hohoe North Constituency.
Co-founder of Africa Centre for Energy Policy, provided policy advice for government and private sector projects.
John-Peter Amewu was chosen to serve as the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources (Ghana) in Nana Akufo-Addo's 19-member Cabinet in May 2017.
John-Peter Amewu's position as Ghana's Energy Minister was altered by President Nana Addo-Danquah Akufo-Addo in August 2018. Thus, he was appointed energy minister of the nation. He continued in this position for the remainder of the New Patriotic Party's period in office.
He is a Christian. He is married with four children.
