Jody Hice

Jody Hice was born on April 22, 1960, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was raised in Tucker, Georgia. Hice later attended Asbury College where he earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy and then went on to get a master's degree in divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a doctorate from Luther Rice Seminary. He has served as a pastor in southern Baptist churches for over 20 years.

In 2010, Jody Hice began hosting a conservative talk radio show, which further increased his prominence in conservative political circles. His show focused on a variety of political and social issues, reflecting his own religious and political views. This platform helped Hice to connect with a broader audience and played a significant role in building up his political base in Georgia.

On July 22, 2014, Jody Hice won the runoff election in the Republican primary for Georgia's 10th congressional district. After Congressman Paul Broun decided not to seek reelection, Hice ran for the open seat and after a spirited campaign, he succeeded in securing his party's nomination, which was pivotal in his successful bid for Congress.

Jody Hice was officially sworn in as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives on January 6, 2015, representing Georgia's 10th congressional district. Hice took this office after winning the general election and succeeded in bringing his conservative viewpoints and advocacy to the federal legislative process, focusing on issues important to his constituents.

On December 19, 2017, Jody Hice voted in favor of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a significant piece of tax reform legislation that aimed to lower taxes on businesses and individuals. Hice supported the bill believing it would stimulate economic growth, job creation, and provide relief to his constituents. The bill passed in the House of Representatives on that day.

On March 22, 2021, Jody Hice announced his candidacy for the position of Georgia Secretary of State. On May 24, 2022, Jody Hice lost the Republican primary for Georgia Secretary of State to the incumbent Brad Raffensperger. Despite the backing of former President Trump, Hice's campaign, which was largely centered on questioning the 2020 election results, was unable to unseat Raffensperger. This marked a significant moment in Hice's political career.
