Hice later attended Asbury College where he earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy and then went on to get a master's degree in divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a doctorate from Luther Rice Seminary. He has served as a pastor in southern Baptist churches for over 20 years.
