Isaac Ashai Odamtten is a Ghanaian politician with the National Democratic Congress, and is currently a Member of Parliament for the Tema East Constituency, having previously served as the Mayor and Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Tema Metropolitan Area from 2013 to 2017.
Born on May 13, 1972, in Tema, Ghana, Odamtten holds a BCom from the University of Cape Coast, an MBA in Accounting, and a project management certificate.
Odamtten began as a teacher, then worked as a Finance officer and Bursar for the Ghana Education Service. He later became the head of finance and senior manager of corporate services at the International Commercial Bank before being nominated as Mayor of Tema by John Dramani Mahama in 2013.
He served on the 16-member executive committee of UCLG Africa, represented West Africa on the CLGF board, and spoke at the Overseas Development Institute's Global Challenges event on World Cities Day 2016 to discuss urban areas' contributions to global SDG goals.
He held the position of Mayor and Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly from 2013 to 2017, and one of his notable achievements was supporting fishermen and enhancing the fisheries sector by supplying outboard motors to local fishermen associations in Tema.
Odamtten secured the National Democratic Congress nomination for Tema East Constituency in the 2020 elections and defeated the incumbent MP, Daniel Titus Glover, with 41,692 votes to 31,956 votes to win the seat
