Early life and education

Ayariga grew up in Accra and Bawku, relocated to Nigeria with his parents following the overthrow of the Limann administration, attended Ghana Secondary School and Barewa College in Nigeria, pursued accounting studies at the London School of Accountancy, and obtained a PhD from Atlantic International University, an American distance learning institution.

After losing to Edward Mahama in the presidential primaries of the People's National Convention (PNC) for the 2016 general election, Ayariga left the party due to alleged anomalies and cheating, subsequently forming his own party called the All People's Congress (APC), which was granted a provisional and later a final certificate by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

Hassan Ayariga's father, Frank Abdulai Ayariga, served as a member of parliament for the Bawku Constituency during the third republic, while his mother, Anatu Ayariga, was a businesswoman; his younger brother, Mahama Ayariga, is a Member of Parliament for the Bawku Central Constituency and served as Minister for Youth and Sports, and Hassan himself has lived and worked in Germany with business interests in both Ghana and Germany, being married with 5 children and one residing in Germany.
