Early life

Born in Birim North, Ghana, on June 10, 1946, Grace Omaboe, also known as the mother of veteran actress Madam Rebecca Afia Daadom, who passed away at the age of 105 from Abirim in the Eastern Region, gained fame through her acting in the well-known Akan Drama Series "OBRA" aired on GBC TV, establishing her as a prominent figure in Ghanaian show business for many years.

Career

Grace Omaboe, also known as Maame Dokono, began as a writer on Osofo Dadzi and later became a highly sought-after actress, starring in the Ghanaian TV series Keteke and Obra, as well as appearing in various Akan and English movies, including the shorts Kwaku Ananse (2013) and Children of the Mountain (2016).

Omaboe ran as a parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in New Abirem for Birim North Constituency in the Eastern Region in both 2000 and 2004. However, she switched to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2008, claiming that the NDC had fabricated false allegations against her.

Personal life

Grace Omaboe, alternatively referred to as Grace Nortey, has gone through two marriages but is currently separated from her second husband. She has a total of six children, four from her first marriage and two from her second. The deterioration of these relationships can be partially attributed to the difficulties arising from her acting career and the irreconcilable disparities between her professional aspirations and familial responsibilities. Regarding her children, two are located in the United States, two in the Netherlands, and the rest reside in Ghana.
